Public Housing

The Housing Authority of Maysville currently owns & manages 260 Studio, 1,2,3,4, & 5 bedroom townhouse apartments in safe, secure neighborhoods throughout the east end of Maysville. These neighborhoods feature convenient access to public transportation, local attractions, and neighborhood businesses.

Several neighborhood complexes are designated for elderly/disabled residents.

Rent is based on income, and a Security Deposit is required. The refrigerator & gas range are included, and some apartments have washer/dryer hook-ups. Maintenance staff are available, including 24 hour emergency repair. Pets are allowed (1 cat/dog per apartment, maximum 20 pounds) with a pet deposit.

Clients are responsible for making updates & changes to their applications and are required to do so in person at our Administrative office.

The wait list for Public Housing is designated by the number of bedrooms the family qualifies for based on family members in the household on the application. Housing is based on family size and availability of an appropriately sized apartment at the time your name reaches the top of the waiting list. The waiting period varies based on the move-in & move-out rates.

Applicants are then assigned points for:
-Living in Mason County
-Employment
-Elderly/Disabled
-Veteran (verification documentation required)
-Victim of Domestic Violence (verification documentation required)

Persons with the same number of points are then listed by the date they applied.
Positions on the wait list can move up or down depending on the change in assigned points due to changes in family situations.

Section 8 Rental Assistance
The Housing Authority of Maysville’s Section 8 program consists of approximately 100 Housing Choice Vouchers. Under this program, the Housing Authority of Maysville will make monthly housing assistance payments to a private landlord on behalf of low-income families who meet all Federal, State, & Housing Authority of Maysville eligibility guidelines.

After applying, families are placed on the Section 8 Rental Assistance Program wait list. The waiting period varies based on amounts spent each month for rental assistance, and Federal Funding for the program.

Applicants are then assigned points for:
