PUBLIC WORKS SEASONAL LABORER

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction and supervision of the Public Works Director, or crew leader, perform maintenance tasks to maintain and improve the appearance and quality of the City of Maysville.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Duties include mowing grass; operating a weed eater; planting, trimming and edging shrubbery, trees, grass and flowers; raking leaves; brush removal; chipping and removing trash and debris.
  • Work as a team player with co-workers and in conjunction with other departments

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING

  • Age Requirement – 16 or older on first day of employment
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to drive a truck and trailer, preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 25-75 lbs frequently

TRANSIT DRIVER

The City of Maysville is currently accepting applications for a full-time driver for a Transit Bus. The Transit Bus Driver is responsible for the safety and well‐being of themselves, the passengers, and all other people on the road.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Drive safely along designated routes.
  • Obey traffic laws, safety procedures, and transit regulations.
  • Pick up and drop off passengers at designated locations.
  • Follow a specific timetable while on duty.
  • Prevent or stop unruly behavior from passengers.
  • Communicate with passengers regarding delays or any issues along a route.
  • Check the bus tires, lights, and oil when needed for basic maintenance.

Requirements:  A CDL with passenger is preferred but not required.  Drivers will be required to obtain a CDL with passenger endorsement within 60 days from the date of hire.

Federal law requires bus drivers to submit to random drug testing while on duty and pass a physical exam every two years.

Drivers must consent to a pre-employment query with the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.  The Clearinghouse, determines if current or prospective employees are prohibited from performing safety-sensitive functions, such as operating a commercial motor vehicle (CMV), due to unresolved drug and alcohol program violations.

TOUR GUIDE

 The City of Maysville is currently accepting applications for part-time tour guides for the Maysville-Mason Co Tourism Commission.  Applicants must have good communication skills and be comfortable speaking to large groups (10-50 people) as well as interest and enthusiasm about local history.

Reliability and flexible scheduling are a must for this position. Hours will vary.
