Honor Guard
The Maysville Police Department Honor Guard was formed in the spring of 1997 and is comprised of volunteers from the department’s rank and file. Members of the Guard volunteer their time and efforts and have represented the department at various functions throughout the community that include; Opening Ceremony of the 1999 Spring Conference of the Kentucky State Fraternal Order of Police, providing honors at funeral and memorial services. While performing these duties members proudly wear the Maysville Police Department uniform with added honor guard assortments.

Officer Daniel Lee Hay
April 18, 1957 – October 16, 1979
Killed In The Line of Duty
On October 16, 1979 in the early hours of the morning, Officer Daniel Hay was shot and killed while investigating a burglary in progress at a local Maysville business.
Officer Hay had been a Police Officer for less than two years at the time of the shooting. He was involved in many areas of Crime Prevention within the community, and was well respected by citizens and fellow officers with whom he served.
In 2003, a Skate Park and Recreational Area was named and dedicated in Honor of Officer Hay.
Officer Hay was 22 years of age at the time of his death.
