Economic Development Director

Maysville-Mason County Industrial Development Authority, Maysville, Kentucky

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Applicant must be a proven leader and able to provide direction for short and long-term strategic planning and community development; as well as have a demonstrated knowledge of economic development, business recruitment, governmental affairs and public finance. A minimum of five years of economic development experience is preferred. Economic Development credentials are preferred; years of successful experience may substitute for education and credentials. Effective written, oral and presentation skills are a must, as the successful candidate will regularly communicate with existing and prospective employers as well as the general public. Strong listening skills and inclusiveness will be keys to success in this position.

General

The Economic Development Director is responsible for and reports to the Maysville-Mason County Industrial Authority and will participate in all economic development projects in the county that may include but is not limited to industrial, commercial and retail developments. WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT COLLECTIONS SYSTEM LABORER

The City of Maysville is currently accepting applications for a full-time Wastewater Treatment Plant Collections System Laborer.

Summary:

  • Assists in the daily operations and maintenance of the plant
  • Monitors pumps, motors, charge and gauges of the machines
  • Repair sewer mains, cleaning and inspection of sewer mains and pump stations
  • Performs routine repairs and adjustments on the equipment
  • Assists with maintaining and cleaning of the plant and grounds
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year of related work experience preferred
  • CDL licensure or the ability to obtain a CDL
  • Ability to obtain a Class III collection system operator license within 3-5 years

Abilities:

  • Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.

UTILITY MANAGER

 The City of Maysville is currently accepting applications for a full-time Utility Manager.

 Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing all aspects of the day-to-day operations and maintenance of a municipal water and wastewater treatment plant, site laboratory, wastewater pumping stations, storm water pollution prevention and source control.
  • Administers capital projects, safety compliance, internal and external reporting, contracts, finance and regulatory compliance.
  • Develops strategies, short-term and long-term goals and objectives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the water and wastewater operations; participates in the annual plant budgeting process and prepares standard reports as needed; and participates in project progress meetings to accomplish goals as needed.
  • Responsible for the appointment, advancement, and discipline of all employees within the utility department.
  • Responds (or manages response by subordinate staff) to after-hours plant alarm calls or similar activities.  May work in all weather conditions. May need to work extended or off shifts during wet weather events or plant emergencies.
  • Resolves customer relation issues.
  • Attends meetings of the City of Maysville Board of Commissioners.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Job Skills

  • Ingenuity and initiative are required to coordinate problem resolution, resolve conflicting priorities and to meet assignment deadlines within a team environment.
  • Ability to diagnose process problems and manage remedial action.
  • Effective communication, presentation and interpersonal skills in order to interface with and motivate all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to prepare accurate, effective, complete, and easily understood written communications, technical documents and reports.
  • Familiarity with maintenance, operation, regulatory reporting and cost estimating software.

Requirements

  • Preferred applicants should hold a Class IV water treatment certification, or the ability to obtain the certification within 2 years of employment, and a Class III wastewater treatment certification.
  • At least five years of experience within a water/wastewater treatment environment with thorough knowledge of the methods, techniques, principles, and practices of water/wastewater treatment, water distribution and wastewater collection.
  • Requires extensive understanding and experience with safety programs and practices.
  • Must be able to pass credit standards to be bonded.

TRANSIT DRIVER

The City of Maysville is currently accepting applications for a part-time driver for the Transit Bus. The Transit Bus Driver is responsible for the safety and well‐being of themselves, the passengers, and all other people on the road.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Drive safely along designated routes.
  • Obey traffic laws, safety procedures, and transit regulations.
  • Pick up and drop off passengers at designated locations.
  • Follow a specific timetable while on duty.
  • Prevent or stop unruly behavior from passengers.
  • Communicate with passengers regarding delays or any issues along a route.
  • Check the bus tires, lights, and oil when needed for basic maintenance.

Requirements:  A CDL with passenger is preferred but not required.  Drivers will be required to obtain a CDL with passenger endorsement within 60 days from the date of hire.

Federal law requires bus drivers to submit to random drug testing while on duty and pass a physical exam every two years.

Drivers must consent to a pre-employment query with the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.  The Clearinghouse, determines if current or prospective employees are prohibited from performing safety-sensitive functions, such as operating a commercial motor vehicle (CMV), due to unresolved drug and alcohol program violations.

The City of Maysville is accepting a pool of applicants for positions with the Maysville’s Fire Department.  These positions will be full-time.

PARAMEDIC

The successful candidate will have the desire and compassion to help others and to protect lives, property and the environment.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE JOB: This is skilled position that performs Advance Life Support.  An employee in this position is responsible for providing emergency medical care to the sick and injured, and for safe and efficient transportation of patients to a medical facility.

Primary responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Administers emergency medical care to patients
  • Administer Advance Life Support and care to injured individuals
  • Operates emergency apparatus to provide transportation
  • Examines patients using advanced diagnostic devices and techniques
  • Takes and records vital signs
  • Consults with medical professionals on treatment, and follows written medical treatment protocols issued
  • Defibrillates, intubates, starts intravenous fluids, administers medications and performs additional procedures as required
  • Decontaminates patients whom have been exposed to hazardous materials
  • Daily inspection, maintenance, and cleanliness of vehicles, equipment and station
  • Tasks and duties as directed by the Shift Captain
  • The position will be a 24/48 shift
  • Required to attend mandatory trainings and in-house meetings

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate from high school, or the equivalency
  • Must be certified by the State of Kentucky as a Paramedic
  • Must maintain certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Must have strong work ethic, interpersonal skills and ability to adapt to diverse circumstances.
  • Candidates must pass pre-employment drug screening.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • High School Diploma/GED certificate
  • Must have current CPAT (Candidate Physical Agility Test) certification or obtain certification prior to offer of employment.
  • Must have strong work ethic, interpersonal skills and ability to adapt to diverse circumstances.
  • Must pass a written exam, with a score of at least 70%, complete a panel interview and have an acceptable background check.
  • Must be Kentucky EMT Basic certified prior to appointment
  • Candidates must pass pre-employment drug screening.
  • Previous firefighting experience preferred.

To be eligible for hire, candidates must pass a background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screening.  Must have current CPAT (Candidate Physical Agility Test) certification or obtain certification prior to offer of employment or qualify for lateral transfer.
