Communications Officer-Dispatcher

The City of Maysville is seeking a part-time Communications Officer-Dispatcher.  The Communication Officer-Dispatcher must respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance and information. They must provide dispatch and communication support services for police, fire, emergency and related services.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate a multi-line telephone console system, alerting system, and TDD system for the deaf and hearing-impaired
  • Translate information to the appropriate codes
  • Determine and assign the level of priority of the call and enter the data into a computer-aided dispatch system for radio dispatch purposes
  • Perform emergency medical dispatch and crisis intervention services
  • Ask vital questions and provide pre-arrival instructions for emergency medical calls
  • Monitor and operate a radio console and computer equipment
  • Receive and respond to a variety of emergency and non-emergency services and complaints
  • Ask questions to interpret, analyze and anticipate the caller’s situation as to resolve problems, provide information, dispatch emergency services, or refer callers to other agencies
  • Dispatch and coordinate the responses of public safety agencies
  • Identify appropriate number and type of equipment or apparatus to dispatch
  • Enters and modifies information into local, state and national computer databases
  • Monitor and respond to a variety of technical systems and alarms
  • Additional duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to think quickly and work under stressful situations.

  • The ability to establish priorities and pass on information as needed.

TROLLEY DRIVER

The City of Maysville is currently accepting applications for a part-time/seasonal Trolley Driver.

This position will be responsible for driving the Maysville Trolley included but not limited to historic tours, school field trips, private rentals and other events.

Applicants must have weekend and evening availability. Applicants must have a CDL license with a passenger endorsement.

Public Works Seasonal Laborer

Under the direction and supervision of the Public Works Director, or crew leader, perform maintenance tasks to maintain and improve the appearance and quality of the City of Maysville.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include mowing grass; operating a weed eater; planting, trimming and edging shrubbery, trees, grass and flowers; raking leaves; brush removal; chipping and removing trash and debris.

Work as a team player with co-workers and in conjunction with other departments

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING

High school diploma or equivalent

Ability to lift up to 25-75 lbs frequently

ASSISTANT UTILITY MANAGER

The City of Maysville is currently accepting applications for a full-time Assistant Utility Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing all aspects of the day-to-day operations and maintenance of a municipal water and wastewater treatment plant, site laboratory, storm water pollution prevention and source control, capital projects, safety, personnel, internal and external reporting, contract, finance and regulatory compliance among other duties.
  • Develops strategies, short-term and long-term goals and objectives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the water and wastewater operations; participates in the annual plant budgeting process and prepares standard reports as needed; and participates in project progress meetings to accomplish goals as needed.
  • Responds (or manages response by subordinate staff) to after-hours plant alarm calls or similar activities.  May work in all weather conditions. May need to work extended or off shifts during wet weather events or plant emergencies.

Job Skills:

  • Ingenuity and initiative are required to coordinate problem resolution, resolve conflicting priorities and to meet assignment deadlines within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose process problems and manage remedial action.
  • Demonstrated effective communication, presentation and interpersonal skills in order to interface with and motivate all levels of personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate, effective, complete, and easily understood written communications, technical documents and reports.
  • Familiarity with maintenance, operation, regulatory reporting and cost estimating software.

Requirements:

  • Preferred applicants should hold a Class IV water treatment certification, or the ability to obtain the certification within 2 years of employment, and a Class III wastewater treatment certification.
  • At least five years of experience within a water/wastewater treatment environment with thorough knowledge of the methods, techniques, principles, and practices of water/wastewater treatment, water distribution and wastewater collection.
  • Requires extensive understanding and experience with safety programs and practices.
